Check it out, instead of buying one of those hard to find fullcoat recorders, why not just take a compact projector that can record sound, and use that. They are a few out there I have the Kodak Ektasound projector which already looks like a recorder! Take that projector modifiy it to use batteries, and there you go. Buy some old sound movie films, put them in to the projector, hook a mic up, and take it on location.

Now you have a recorder that will record sound at almost the exact same speed that your camera is running, 18 or 24fps.

When you are done shooting and recording the sound, put 2 of the same projectors by each other turn them on, and match the film up. Press play on one and record on the other.

What I would do is make a spot on the sound film and your film, match that spot up, and hook the 2 projectors up to a outlet bar. One of those bars that has about 5 outlets in them. Then when you have your film matched up, before you turn the projectors on press record on your film projector, and play on the projector your fullcoat is on(you would have to get your film striped first). Of course you would have to hook both of the projectors up. External speaker on one to the line input on the other. Take the outlet bar and turn it on, and there you go they are both matched up perfectly and will run at pretty much the same speed, or the exact same speed because you are using the same projector. Hell you could probably try this with 2 different projectors, why not?

    What do you think?

    Sorry I didn't clerify something.

What I ment by matching up the film is that you have to make sure that if you where to put the two films side by side with the begining and end matched the maked frame would be matched up. So:

    ---------.----------
    ---------.----------

Match those frames up in both projectors, and turn them on at the same time.

    PLUR
